Your gift to the library through the Oelwein Public Library Foundation means the difference between good libraries and great libraries.
Mission of the Foundation:
Together with the Friends of the Oelwein Public Library volunteer group, the Oelwein Public Library Foundation provides an independent financial source for the support of the Oelwein Public Library. The foundation enhances learning by developing increased community support for library goals and needs and provides a more secure future for the library.
Purpose of the Foundation:
Established in 2009, the Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation organized for the purpose of providing a continuous source of financial assistance to the Oelwein Public Library through the solicitation of tax-deductible contributions from private sources.
Foundation funds are maintained separately from and independently of either the city's annual library operational appropriation or any library capitol improvement funds derived from the city's sale of municipal bonds, revenue certificates, or city-owned property.
As a non-profit organization, the Foundation serves as the catalyst needed to provide books and services not traditionally provided for Oelwein Public Library through tax-based funding, as well as a source of funding for additional building projects.
Board of Directors:
The Foundation is governed by a seven member Board of Directors. Directors volunteer to serve three year terms.
